Our values and motivation
TensCare to us is not just about doing the work. It is about staying relevant at the current pace of change, ensuring future generation of TensCarers would enjoy full benefits of our joint success. At TensCare we foster the power of encouragement, cooperation and caring that builds the team. Employee Ownership ethos taps into our human spirit, potential and energy; giving purpose to work, creating a sense of belonging and connection, helping individuals grow personally and in the wider corporate sense to progress meaningfully which in the end is what we all want to do in society.
TensCare started in the 1990’s – John McLeoad (pictured top right) and his co founder Michael Trompetto brought their entrepreneurial spirit to bear on bringing TensCare into being.
The early products focused on TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machines for managing chronic pain conditions. Soon products were tailored to manage the acute pain of childbirth labour pains and today TensCare are the largest TENS provider for mums to be in the World. Our famous Mama Tens has gone through several transformations as the technologies and science of understanding pain management has improved over the years. Culminating in our latest offer in this area of the Perfect Mama +
In the early 2000’s the TensCare range developed to target specific pain ailments such as dysmenorrhea (period pain), arthritic hand pain and diabetic neuropathic pain with the introduction of our OVA product, iglove and isock products respectively. These products are still available today albeit in adapted formats with enhanced digital technology and improved clinically evaluated programmes to ensure optimal efficacy.
The 2010’s saw a flow of exciting new products with muscle tone and strengthening EMS and Interferential devices for managing and treating musulo-skeletal injuries and trauma and more recently the application of EMS for pelvic floor exercisers for continence management of Stress, Urge and mixed incontinence (bladder weaknesses) in women and for erectile dysfunction in men.
The last few years since going Employee owned has seen more far reaching changes and new successes in our product range development – most notably with our caring made easier range of thermometers and the launch of light therapy devices and muscle stimulation to improve the users aesthetic appearance. Light therapy to improve the appearance of skin rashes such as rosasea, acne and nail discolouration and facial muscle stimulators and micro current technology to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and cellulite.
The 2020’s are set to see TensCare continuously innovating our product range in the pursuit of improving the quality of life for our customers. We know if you improve the quality of life of one person this has the ripple effect that you improve the quality of life for the family, friends and community who surround them.
We have dedicated over 25 years to improving the quality of life of over hundreds of thousands of our product users. Taking electrotherapy applications from the concept and design stage to clinical evaluation and introduction to our World market place. You can see on this website some of the latest innovations such as the application of electrotherapy to manage dysfascia and migraines to light therapy to clean nail discolouration with our new Nailit product.
The newest development in design is our range of breast pumps. Having helped hundreds of thousands of mums through perhaps one of the most significant periods of their lives during child birth we are trusted and positioned to continue our care for their child with this new introduction.

What employee ownership means to us
We pursued employee ownership to create a culture and build an environment of inclusivity and true purpose which in itself is protective of the well-being of an individual and the wider work force. Neil Wright orchestrated the transition to EO, believed it would foster the power of encouragement, cooperation and caring that builds teams.
EO taps into our human spirit, potential and energy; giving purpose to work, creating a sense of belonging and connection, helping individuals grow personally and in the wider corporate sense to progress meaningfully which in the end is what we all want to do in society.
